HISTORY :

Savory is a perennial plant that grows along the paths of the Mediterranean. It thrives in sunny areas and temperate climates.

When the temperatures are too harsh in winter, it disappears.

It forms a famous quartet with thyme, rosemary and laurel in the bouquet garni or herbes de Provence.

According to old stories, savory, the "devil's herb", populated the meadows of the Satyrs, which would explain their sexual vigor.

PROPERTIES :

Savory was originally used as an aphrodisiac. Savory facilitates digestion, which is important when preparing large meals.

It eliminates intestinal parasites. Externally, it is healing and antiputrid.

COOKING :

Savory is the main ingredient of the typical Lebanese oriental spice mixture called zaatar, to which olive oil is added and in which traditional bread is soaked. Its aroma is intense and lingers in the mouth. This seasoning will give an oriental flavour to your usual salads.
