HISTORY :

Assam black tea was discovered by the Scottish adventurer Robert Bruce in 1823. It was while travelling through the

province of Assam, on the slopes of the Himalayas, that he discovered that the inhabitants consumed a beverage made from the leaf of the

drink from the leaves of a bush.

The plant was identified as a tea variety in 1830.

In 1838, twelve cases of this tea were auctioned. This was the first auction of a product

of a product from India.

It is traditionally consumed in England and Ireland for breakfast.
