HISTORY :

The laurel is a shrub that spreads throughout the Mediterranean. Its family is very large with a thousand different varieties! Its dried leaves make an infusion, essential oil and aromatic. It has a wide range of uses, to name but one: it is a repellent for all undesirables (mice and moths!). Laurel is known worldwide because it is part of the Aleppo soap. Symbolically, it represents peace or victory.

PROPERTIES :

Laurel is a natural sedative. It rebalances the scalp or oily skin, a few drops are enough, the more it irritates. Its oil also relieves painful joints.

COOKING :

What to put in the pot with a bunch of bay leaves? Many things! Its bitterness will make your terrines and other pâtés unique. It forms a tasty union with game such as venison or rabbit, add a sprig of bay leaf to your stir-fry with a little savory. To remain in the old repertoire, the blanquette of veal fills the stomachs in winter. Don't forget to remove the bay leaf at the last minute. To make the accompanying rice less bland, the bay leaf has no equal, to be put in the cooking water. The combination is ideal with fish: sardines, tuna, whiting, swordfish. In the vegetable section, bay leaves are not difficult to use, with old vegetables, beetroot or tomatoes, as you prefer! But also beans or lentils.
