HISTORY :

Originally from South America, paprika made its way to Europe, where it is mainly used in Spanish and Hungarian cuisine.

Hot paprika is made from dried and ground peppers. It is commonly used in Spanish and Hungarian cuisine.

In Hungary, paprika is a star spice. It adds flavour and colour to many dishes such as goulash. In Spain, it is used in chorizo and other cold cuts.

PROPERTIES :

Its natural capsaicin content is higher than that of sweet paprika and helps to reduce blood pressure. It speeds up intestinal transit thanks to its fibre content. Its vitamin E content considerably improves the quality of the skin and the antibacterial effects of paprika significantly limit the occurrence of bacterial acne.

Its antioxidants slow down the effects of cell ageing. Vitamin B6 provides the body with energy.

COOKING :

Paprika can be eaten raw and cooked. Raw, sprinkle on the dish to add decoration and extra flavour. Cooked, add at the end of cooking to retain all its flavour. Paprika can be used in all simmered dishes, couscous, hummus, goulash, soups, thin-fleshed fish.
