HISTORY :

Known for more than 9,000 years by the indigenous peoples for its medicinal and culinary virtues, the bird's tongue chilli pepper is native to equatorial America.

It was brought to Europe by a companion of Christopher Columbus following his voyage. The plant was quickly introduced in all equatorial regions of the world.

PROPERTIES :

The bird pepper is rich in vitamins A, C, E, folic acid and potassium. It contributes to the good health of bones and cartilage, clearly accelerates healing and prevents cardiovascular diseases.

It is an excellent treatment for rheumatism, fatigue, lung diseases and sciatica.

Chilli also has an antioxidant action, it considerably slows down the damage of free radicals.

COOKING :

Beware that bird's tongue chilli is hot and should therefore be used in moderation. The bird's eye pepper can be macerated in a neutral oil for at least 15 days, stirring occasionally. The hot oil can then be used to season salads, tartars and pizzas.

To season dishes such as ratatouille, shellfish or fish. A dash in a chocolate sauce also, to add a little pep!
