HISTORY :

Star anise is the fruit of the Chinese star anise tree. It forms a small 8-pointed star, hence its name. It is mainly cultivated in the province of Jiangxi.

In the Middle Ages, star anise was a rare and expensive spice. Star anise was brought to Europe by the English in the 16th century, to be cultivated and used by practitioners.

PROPERTIES :

Star anise is antispasmodic, treats painful colitis, gastritis, relieves menstrual pain. Recommended for difficult digestion, it treats bloating and aerophagia and calms nausea. Star anise clears the respiratory tract, relieves aches and pains in the joints. In case of sleep disorders in infusion.

COOKING :
