HISTORY :
This small yellow seed with a very distinctive angular appearance originated in the Middle East and India, where it is still widely consumed today. In ancient times, it was used as fodder, and its name (Greek hay) derives from this primary use. The Egyptians used it for the embalming of the pharaohs. More generally, it was used to purify the air in homes and places of worship.
